How Can I Donate my Body?
To donate your body, we recommend the follow steps:
- Discuss your wishes with family and friends
- Contact your nearest medical school for further information
- Complete the consent form they provide
- Keep a copy of the form with your will
- Tell your family, close friends, executor and doctor of your intention to donate
What happens to my body after research has concluded?
The Medical School will carry out extensive research for two years at which point they will organise and pay for a simple cremation to take place. The ashes are then scattered or returned to the family. You will need to liaise with the Medical School as to whether they will allow a service during the cremation process. If the deceased has requested a burial, this will be at the cost of the family to organise a funeral director to carry out the funeral arrangements.
