We can provide Direct Cremations in Bournemouth, Poole and throughout Dorset. Our experienced funeral directors are available to offer advice and guidance, assisting you in deciding whether a Direct Cremation is the right choice for you or your loved one.
What is a Direct Cremation?
A Direct Cremation is a simple, dignified cremation held in the absence of mourners, without a funeral service. As a result of their basic nature, which doesn’t involve many of the elements you typically associate with traditional funerals and cremations, direct cremations are usually the least expensive type of funeral. However, this doesn’t mean there are any compromises in the level of care and respect shown to the deceased. Our funeral directors ensure they still receive a professional ceremony at the crematorium. The cremated remains are then either returned to the next of kin or respectfully scattered in the crematorium’s Garden of Remembrance.
Why Choose a Direct Cremation?
The financial benefit of choosing a cost-effective funeral speaks for itself. Aside from the financial aspect however, there are a number of reasons why a Direct Cremation may be favoured. Some people simply wish for an uncomplicated and understated send-off. Whether this is to avoid the burden of responsibility and other related difficulties that come with making funeral arrangements or it is due to the personal beliefs held by the deceased, a direct cremation may be the ideal solution.
Direct Cremations also offer a level of freedom in terms of how and where you say your final farewell. As the ashes can be returned to the family after the cremation has taken place it then gives you the opportunity to arrange a memorial service at a later date. Whatever the reason for not choosing a traditional funeral, direct cremation allows for you to arrange an appropriate alternative.
It may be the case that the number of attendees was limited, some friends or family were unable to travel or any other situation that prevented the funeral from going ahead as hoped. Direct Cremation gives you the chance to hold a funeral at a time and place that is most suitable to you. Many people choose to hold a memorial service at a location that was special to the deceased, scattering their ashes during the event.
